B Corp design house, House of Hackney, invite Nature into the home with OVERSTORY: an interiors collection inspired by Britain’s endangered temperate rainforests: an immersive tale of the wild woods.

With 17 new Forest Stewardship Council certified wallpapers, 9 new fabrics made with Global Organic Textile Standard certified cotton, as well as hand-crafted furnishings, furniture and home accessories, OVERSTORY transforms natural landscapes into “living rooms”.

Taking its name from the uppermost layer of the forest, OVERSTORY is inspired by the rare and endangered British temperate rainforests, layered with references to sacred trees, fungi, lichens, woodland creatures and hidden mycelial networks.

At the canopy level, the OVERSTORY print is created from an original artwork, the sculptural murals of ancient oaks in green, blue and earthy pink remind us of the magic of the forest

In SYLVAN, a moonlit Celtic landscape reveals sacred trees rich in symbolism - oak for strength, birch for renewal, willow for intuition, rowan for protection. Beneath the canopy, the forest floor reveals its works of art. Inspired by Turkey Tail fungi, the organic growth has been captured in hand-painted TRAMETES, while LICHEN and HEARTWOOD echo the textures of bark, stone and mycelial networks shaped slowly over centuries.

The striking, organic, scalloped stripes of XYLEM draw attention to the vascular network of trees, HALCYON is a pastoral wilderness, reworked from a 19th-century design discovered in a French archive, and the rich, textural NYXWOOD is a verdure tapestry-like wallpaper.

With a palette that moves through deep forest greens, midnight blues, earthy neutrals and moonlit tones, OVERSTORY is a chance to live in the forest.
