*The stated salary range, experience and background is a guide and does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience, provided the requisite skills and passion for the brand can be demonstrated.
Our Purpose:
House of Hackney is a restoration project rooted in Nature, Craft, Community and Awe! Inspired by Nature’s living systems, we use creativity and business as catalysts to regenerate our common home.
We are deeply committed to shifting from being a B Corp sustainable business to a truly regenerative one, giving back more than we take. We are a work in progress and the successful candidate will have an innovative and proactive approach in everything they do to support this commitment and our wider mission.
House of Hackney is on a very unique journey - and this person’s role is to champion that journey, bringing it to life within the industry, sustainability community and wider culture.
The Role:
This is a role for someone equally confident telling our progressive, regenerative story of Nature-centric business as they are building the relationships and partnerships that carry that story into the world: someone with the gravitas to speak about the brand and engage people in our roadmap, and the instinct to know who House of Hackney should be building with next.
You’ll hold five core areas of focus: PR, Partnerships, Collaborations, Cultural Influence and Founder Platform. Across all five, you’ll be the connective tissue between House of Hackney and the people, institutions and moments that matter - journalists, tastemakers, artistic and cultural institutions, universities and other brands among them.
This is a relationship and positioning role; your job is to make sure House of Hackney is building the right things with the right people, and that our Founders and the wider team is always in the right rooms.
Experience in interiors and a track record of delivering results in both UK and US markets will set you apart.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Collaboration
- Set the PR, Partnership and Cultural Influence strategies in line with and in support of the wider business objectives, both commercial and regenerative.
- Be the go-to person for all PR, Partnerships and Cultural Influence activities.
- Act as House of Hackney’s cultural antenna, always bringing a view on exhibitions, books, podcasts, artists, emerging designers, regenerative business trends, media trends and partnership opportunities.
- Feed that cultural insight into the wider PR, Partnerships and Collaborations strategy.
- Manage the PR, Influencer and Events budgets effectively, ensuring maximum impact and return on investment.
- Collaborate across multiple teams (including Creative Content, Product and Sales) to deliver cohesive brand storytelling.
- Deputise for the Customer & Strategy Director when required.
- Champion a positive, collaborative working culture that balances creativity with operational excellence.
- Lead by example through excellent communication, creative thinking and proactive problem-solving.
Public Relations
- Lead and own the development and delivery of PR strategies that drive brand awareness in relevant, quality titles.
- Pitch stories to interiors, lifestyle, sustainability, national and business media in both the UK and US markets, identify features that bring the House of Hackney story to life.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers and industry tastemakers.
- Brief and distribute press releases, media alerts and editorial content.
- Manage award submissions and speaking opportunities, and secure podcast appearances for the Founders and wider team as appropriate.
Partnerships & Influencer Engagement
- A big opportunity for the brand: own and grow relationships with journalists, tastemakers, artistic and cultural institutions, universities and other brands.
- Identify, negotiate and manage partnerships with relevant and aligned influencers across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Substack and beyond.
- Identify, negotiate and develop other cultural and commercial collaborations that support House of Hackney’s positioning and goals.
- Manage all partnerships and collaborations from agreement through to delivery.
- Ensure Partner and Influencer activity aligns with brand values, campaign objectives and content quality standards.
- Ownership and tracking of performance and ROI, feeding insights into your future strategy.
- Always be asking: who should House of Hackney be building with next?
- Develop and build a 3-year collaborations pipeline.
Founder Platform & Relationship Management
- Support the Founders with speaking opportunities, media, introductions, networking, awards and other opportunities - essentially, making sure they’re in the right rooms.
- Act as a key connector between House of Hackney’s founders, leadership team and external partners, including press, influencers, industry tastemakers and collaborators.
- Foster meaningful, long-term relationships that support the brand’s creative, commercial and cultural goals.
- Represent the brand with warmth, professionalism and confidence across all interactions.
Events
- Lead the planning, organising and delivery of brand events; from intimate press previews and partner dinners to collaboration launches - managing guest lists, budgets and supplier coordination as needed.
- Represent the brand at events and ensure a best-in-class guest experience for all attendees.
Cross-Channel Collaboration
- Work closely with the rest of the Marketing and Content team to ensure cohesive messaging and campaign delivery.
- Liaise with the US-based team and to ensure market relevance.
- Internal stakeholder management, ensuring PR, Partnerships and Cultural Influence activity is understood and expectations are managed and met.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a high-paced PR role with equal strength in traditional media and digital/influencer engagement.
- A track record of building and negotiating partnerships and collaborations with cultural institutions, brands or creative talent.
- Event management experience, from concept to execution.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine enjoyment of building relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing a budget, and working collaboratively with finance teams to optimise and reconcile budget plans.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and a long-term pipeline simultaneously.
- Network of interiors media and influencer contacts in both the UK and US.
- A genuine curiosity about culture - exhibitions, design, media and emerging trends.
